West Texas Anniversary
My wife and I went out to the Davis Mountains area in West Texas over the weekend for our first anniversary. It was so much fun! We stayed at Indian Lodge in Davis Mountains State Park. It is a beautiful place! I would definitely recommend a stay there. They've got a great restaurant on-site there too. It serves up kind of cafeteria type food, but it was really good. Reminded me a bit of family reunions with the pink jello salads, etc.
We went to the McDonald Observatory for tours on a couple of different days, went to dinner in Alpine, and drove down to Marfa. Also, went to the actual fort at Fort Davis. We were most impressed with the observatory. Alpine and Marfa were not too exciting.
Got a nice hike in at the state park one afternoon. We went down an extremely steep trail on our return part of the hike. I kept thinking that this is a really bad trail. When we got down to the very bottom, there was a sign that said, "Danger. Do not enter." Oops. I wish they'd put a similar sign at the top.
