The 107-inch telescope at McDonald Observatory. It’s hard to tell the scale in this picture but this telescope is huge. The tube is 12 feet in diameter. I got to rotate the top of the building using a control panel. Jocelyn actually got to move the telescope up and down using a similar controller. The movable portion of the telescope ways 165 tons but is so well balanced with counterweights that it only takes 1 horsepower of energy to move it.
